Name Change for Clermont DJFS Division

News Release
January 24, 2008

Batavia, Ohio. The Employment Services (ES) division of the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services is changing its name! Effective March 1, 2008, the division will become the Office of Adult, Child, and Family Stability (ACFS).

"Because of the multiple programs we administer, calling the division Employment Services was a bit confusing to the citizens we serve," said ES Deputy Director Crystal Patrick. "Staff members were asked for suggestions in renaming the division and it was decided that the "Office of Adult, Child, and Family Stability" better encompasses our mission to administer federal and state programs designed to provide stability to individuals and families in the areas of health, nutrition, and financial support."

The largest program administered by ACFS is Medicaid, providing health care coverage to over 20,000 Clermont County children, families, disabled and elderly adults, and nursing home patients. The second largest program administered is Food Stamps, which provides nutritional support to over 12,000 recipients. The division also administers the Ohio Works First, Disability Financial Assistance, and a Child Care programs. The Child Care program offers financial support to help eligible families, who are working or going to school, with child care expenses; over 1,000 children are in child care funded through this program.

"The division also handles fraud investigations and overpayment recovery," said Patrick. "The goal is to recover tax dollars that have been erroneously or fraudulently issued to our customers. Last year the division collected over $323,600.00."
